Serial Nos. Eligible. The NAA Export Certificate of Airworthiness (Export C of A) endorsed as
noted below under "Import Requirements" must be submitted for each
individual glider for which application for certification is made.
Certification Basis. FAR 21.29 and Federal Republic of Germany glider airworthiness requirements
dated August 1939 (These requirements are equivalent to FAR 21.23).
Type Certificate G15EU issued June 21, 1967.
G15EU 2
Date of Application for Type Certificate: May 19, 1967.
The German Airworthiness Authority, the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA),
originally type certificated this glider under its Type Certificate (TC) No. L-267,
issued December 13, 1966. Effective September 28, 2003, the European
Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) began oversight of this model and the LBA TC
was deemed to be issued by EASA and remains valid.
Import Requirements. A U.S. airworthiness certificate may be issued on the basis of an NAA Export C
of A signed by a representative of the LBA, containing the following statement:
"The glider covered by this certificate has been examined, tested and found to
comply fully with the Federal Republic of Germany glider airworthiness
requirements dated August 1939, and conforms to Type Certificate No.
G15EU."
Refer to the applicable bilateral agreement to verify eligibility for import into
the United States of both new and used aircraft based on the scope of the
agreement, to identify any required statements by the exporting authority on the
export certificate of airworthiness (or equivalent document), and for procedures
for coordinating exceptions to conformity statements on these documents. Refer
to FAA Order 8130.2, Airworthiness Certification of Aircraft, for requirements
for issuance of an airworthiness certificate for imported aircraft.
Equipment. The basic required equipment as prescribed in the applicable airworthiness
regulations (see Certification Basis) must be installed in the glider for
certification.
Service Information. Each of the documents listed below must state that it is approved by the EASA
or – for approvals made before September 28, 2003 – by the LBA:
• Service bulletins
• Structural repair manuals
• Vendor manuals
• Aircraft flight manuals
• Overhaul and maintenance manuals
The FAA accepts such documents and considers them FAA-approved for type
design data only unless one of the following conditions exists:
• The documents change the limitations, performance, or procedures of
the FAA approved manuals.
The FAA uses post type validation procedures to approve these documents. The
FAA may delegate on a case-by-case basis to EASA to approve these on behalf
of the FAA for the U.S. type certificate. If this is the case, it will be noted on
the document.
NOTES.
NOTE 1. Current weight and balance report including list of equipment in certificated empty weight, and
loading instructions when necessary, must be provided for each glider at the time of original
certification.
NOTE 2. The following placard must be installed in full view of the pilot:
a. "When flying in rough air do not exceed 75 knots"
b. "No acrobatic manoeuvres including spins approved"
