From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 4/26/99, at approsimately 0824 CDT while on a revenue flight from peoria IL (pia) to Champaign IL (cmi) in VFR weather conditions, the pilot in command noticed an oil leak on the right side of the left engine cowl, at that time he was about 35-40 miles east of pia. Approximately 5 to 10 miles later the pilot noticed the oil streak was getting heavier and made the decision to shut down the engine. The pilot did state that all indications on the engine instruments were normal and the engine seemed to be running normally; except for the oil leak. The flight then continued to the destination airport cmi and landed without further incident. This incident is closed with this report.
