From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The following narrative was developed through interviews with the flight crew of chautauqua flight 4203, the air traffic control tower (ATCT) personnel of the Johnstown-Cambria County Airport (jst), and a review of the air traffic control audio tape. Chautauqua 4203, a jetstream 31, N834JS, was cleared to land on runway 33 at the Johnstown-Cambria County Airport, Johnstown, PA, at approx 1230 hrs. On October 26, 1999. After an uneventful landing, the aircraft continued down the runway to taxiway "A-1", a connecting taxiway between runway 33 and the parallel taxiway "a". Approx. at the intersection of runway 33 and taxiway "A-1", chautauqua 4203 received instructions from jst ATCT "to turn right when able, taxi to parking, and monitor ground." Just prior to those instructions, jst ground control had authorized a fuel truck, operated by air east, a local FBO, to proceed northbound on taxiway "a" and to hold short at the end of the taxiway "a" and runway 15. As chautauqua 4203 turned the corner from taxiway "A-1" and turned south on taxiway "a", the crew saw the fuel truck. Simultaneously, the fuel truck received instructions from jst ground control to exit the taxiway ont o the grass, east of the taxiway. The fuel truck exited the taxiway and upon leaving the hard surface of the taxiway, sunk into the soft sod area, becoming stuck. Dring this time, chautauqua 4203 stopped to allow the fuel truck to exit the taxiway, then taxied slightly right of the taxiway centerline to avoid hitting the fuel truck. The aircraft began to taxi past the fuel truck, but due to inadequate clearance between the fuel truck and the aircraft, the left wing struck the left rear corner of the fuel truck. The fuel truck sustained minor paint scratching. The left wing tip of the aircraft was compressed approx. 2-3 inches, and the strobe and position lights were sheared off. The aircraft was subsequently inspected, issued a ferry permit, and released for flight to a maintenance facility in hagerstown, MD. There were no reported injuries.

As the FAA filed it
