From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Desk audit: on June 9, 2005, at approximately 1835 eastern time, a Mcdonnell Douglas MD-9-32, N602NW, flight number 1065 conducted under 14 CFR part 121, by northwest airlines inc., diverted to Pittsburgh international airport (pit), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania due to low oil pressure on the number two engine. The aircraft landed on runway 10R with the aircraft rescue fire fighting (ARFF) standing by. Upon exiting the runway the brakes locked up. The passengers were deplaned by stairs and bussed to the terminal. The local contract maintenance, jett care, troubleshot the number two engine and found the chip detectors were covered with a large amount of metal fuzz. They ran the engine per troubleshooting procedures and rechecked the chip detectors. This time the chip detectors had larger pieces of metal. Northwest airlines maintenance later removed and replaced the number two engine and brakes on both of the main landing gear. The flight crew's actions or lack of actions did not contribute to this incident. This closes the investigation of this incident and no further action is required from this office.
