From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On a VFR trip to brainerd, MN (brd) from Alexandria, MN. (Axn), the pilot prepared for approach and landing at brd and was unable to lower the landing gear. He diverted north of the airport and completed the emergency gear extention checklist and found he was also unable to manually extend the landing gear. He talked to maintenance personal to try and diagnose the problem and was unable to find another alternate method of lowering the gear. He returned to axn and flew for a time to use up excess fuel and then landed the aircraft with the landing gear retracted.
