From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Eon message text: Charleston, SC (jzi): N5891J, BE35, landed on runway 9 with the landing gear retracted. POB: 1, injuries: none, damage: extent unknown. 03/25/2021 1850Z

Pilot statement: on 25 March 2021, I made a gear up landing in my owned aircraft, N5891J, a 1965 Beechcraft debonair, at kjzi (Charleston Executive Airport) after two hours of flight instruction with my CFI. I was flying solo at the time of the incident.

I did not put down the gear, although I thought I had done so. I crossed the runway threshold at about 75 knots, held the nose in the landing configuration and settled into the runway. Instead of hearing "chirp" from the rubber tires, I heard nothing until I heard sheet metal scraping and the propeller hitting the concrete. I maintained centerline without any forward g-force and came to a stop. I immediately shut off the fuel valve and the electrical system. After a few minutes of shock, I opened the door, stepped onto the wing and right to the ground. I did not believe what I had just done in landing with the gear up. But I did. I sustained no injury at all, only damage to N5891J.

As the FAA filed it
