From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On January 13, 2023, the rochester NY FSDO received a request via awc for a special flight permit to relocate a Cessna 310J to a facility for repair. When inspectors investigated further, it came to light that a landing mishap happened two months earlier on November 13, 2022, and that the aircraft had not flown since that time. Photographs sent to inspectors at the FSDO showed that although the gear had not collapsed, extensive damage to the primary structure that supports the nose gear had occurred, which would require major repairs with an engineering evaluation. As a result, the ferry permit was denied. The aircraft had just been sold and the privacy data omitted was flying with the previous privacy data omitted to familiarize him with the aircraft. On the last flight of the day, the privacy data omitted attempted to turn off of the runway after landing while holding too much speed. The aircraft experienced a side load to the nose gear and began to vibrate as the taxi continued to the ramp. Subsequent investigtion revealed the damage, which was classified as severe.

As the FAA filed it

AS A RESULT, THE FERRY PERMIT WAS DENIED. THE AIRCRAFT HAD JUST BEEN SOLD AND THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS FLYING WITH THE PREVIOUS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ TO FAMILIARIZE HIM WITH THE AIRCRAFT. ON THE LAST FLIGHT OF THE DAY, THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF OF THE RUNWAY AFTER LANDING WHILE HOLDING TOO MUCH SPEED. THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A SIDE LOAD TO THE NOSE GEAR AND BEGAN TO VIBRATE AS THE TAXI CONTINUED TO THE RAMP. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGTION REVEALED THE DAMAGE, WHICH WAS CLASSIFIED AS SEVERE.
