From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On August 26th, 2005, at 12:40 CDT, a Cessna CE-172RG, N9795B, landed at the Arkadelphia airport (M89), Arkadelphia, Arkansas, without having extended the landing gear. The two occupants, a certified flight instructor and private pilot (commercial student), did not sustain any injuries, and the airplane sustained minor damage. The henderson university aviation program was operating the aircraft as an instructional flight under 14 CFR part 141. The flight originated at the Arkadelphia airport at approximately 12:00 CDT. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed. The private pilot (commercial student) was receiving instruction on simulated engine failures at altitude. The pilot stated this was his 3rd power off landing in a row and he was distracted with the maneuver. He did not complete the final "gumps" before landing check and forgot to extend the landing gear. The CFI realized the gear was not extended immediately before touchdown at which point he took control of the aircraft in an effort to minimize the damage upon landing.
